| Some of the most beautiful movies with the same theme in common: the main characters seem to live a life of emptiness and insignificance. Factotum consider as one of the movies that bring this matter to a higher level (with American Beauty, Lost in Translation, The Big Lebowski, etc.). Factotum see in the fictional alter ego of writer Charles Bukowski who live a life nihilistic alcohol and bad relationships. Nothing really happens in history, also the protagonist of the story being fired in the fight against racetracks, trying to collect a check for the days he worked in a company, and drink a lot of times or have sex. This complete scratch deals in history is hard. Sometimes I craved literary to do something, anything. But I was fascinated and impressed by the manner in which this DVD film Factotum really captures the essence of Bukowski psyche by history as a kind of monitoring of the scenes of humor, without a large global network. Fortunately, the dark remains constant good humor to the end, and that certainly keeps the attention. Although I am not a big fan of Matt Dillon, I consider it ideal for this role. He is playing very sarcastic man with an air of arrogance and cynicism. I did not know he had it that way, but certainly Factotum is demonstrating that it has. I hope he accepts similar roles in the near future and therefore is able to elevate its status de''muy chico''a''grave''actor. |
| First, my only complaints about the DivX Movie Factotum authenticity. And just because I am a big fan of Charles Bukowski. I never thought of Matt Dillon as a "great" actor. But Dillon as Bukowski I thought was fair. I almost can not put my finger in it. It looks a bit like Buk decent, but his performance seems almost too real to a mediocre impression. I do not know. But it is not very convincing or natural or something. I'm not a coach who does. He just did not click with me Bukow ...* Ahem *, Chinaski, anyway. On the whole the film: Factotum does not just capture the feel of Bukowski's novel. It seemed too clean for some reason. The entire movie: Factotum just seems much more gentle to the literature. His writing reflects this sense of adventure, danger, and often raw vulgarity. But it also has a very clever heart to it. The Factotum Comedy is totally lost, in my opinion. But believe it or not, but I still think it's a good movie. Outside the interpretation of Charles Bukowski's novel, is still fun to see, in general, with good results and have a great story based. |
| Henry Chinaski is so true to himself even in situations sh * ing. That makes it nice character. Factotum shows a big-time and real-life losers decline. It's like the great comic book in real life. Chinaski and I feel sorry for him, but while they laugh at anything that is on. Very strong performance by Matt Dillon. Showed real character development. Lily Taylor did half as witty January Great atmosphere and great personality that Factotum nice black comedy. I did not think long before Bent Hamer, Factotum off but is really a work of art. |
| For thirty years I read Charles Bukowski .. One of the great pleasures of my life. I also had the privilege of knowing John Martin, Director and Editor of Black Sparrow Press. He is the most honorable person, other than that I have known my father. I saw the first DVD film Factotum that came out of Bukowski, a documentary by Taylor Hackford, in the early seventies, I think. This is a wonderful trip in the days it was fine to smoke and drink and be happy and sad and angry at the same time. It seems that nowadays one can not be all that .. Furthermore, it appears that there is a line that the feet of my generation do not want to do, and is inclined to a right-thinking and desire to be some kind of fascist Bibilical. Thank God, the show won the last election and we can all stop pretending that "God" which means that in the control of our daily life .. And that's what I was saying .. Buke Be a man .. Being a woman .. Be something .. But do not put in some crazy and stupid idea that some people have that life is controlled by a "Being", just above us, and say what and where and how we live. Come on .. Buke knew enough to have faith in itself and personal strength. That is what we all have .. God is a concept .. An idea based on faith. Living life, well ... it is about being a man, woman and child .. Just do not mess ... OK? Tony Miller |
| It seems that Henry Chinaski is Polonius advice to heart. This adaptation is a character who is always true to himself, no matter the consequences. Matt Dillon Chinaski's image is strong, and his humble style makes it much more enjoyable it could be otherwise. Lili Taylor has a wonderful job as his girlfriend at some time in January Their scenes together are always interesting (with or without bandages), with the characters constantly developed. The dialogue has a lot of pop. A little black film, something of a comic book, the Factotum film has a pleasant feel to the first-person narration of Chinaski leads us into his tour. It could have been black and white, but is well filmed in color. One of those rare movies at home in just a Factotum Comedy movie festival (from Cleveland, in this case) or your local theater. |
