1950 photo of Alabama at the time of harvest. Tyrone Purvis (Danny Glover), an old juke balancing rare Honeydripper Lounge, a long-gone blues solo whistles. Business is business and that may be forced to close 'er down. But wait, that may be able to save the Honeydripper with one big ass rockin 'on Saturday night. It hired the legendary Guitar Sam to be its champion. But any news is just more bad news ... Guitar Sam can not do the concert to be in the hospital. Thus, history, Tyrone must quickly find another guitar-Slinger to save face and Honeydripper. With a versatile cast: Lisa Gay Hamilton, Charles S. Dutton, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Mable John, Gary Clark Jr., Keb 'Mo' and Stacy Keach. Volatile electrifying soundtrack rockin 'blues size: The Aces of Spades, Gary Clark Jr., Mable John, Keb' Mo ', and even Hank Williams. |
The DVD movie Honeydripper was enjoyable. Only complaint that was moving slowly and with a duration of two hours ... Indeed it seems quite long. Reasonable plot, well-integrated, well directed and acted. Supporting actress for the character of China doll had very good times. Tighter editing and better pace would have done much better. It is not the best movie: Honeydripper in the world, but of good quality and high value of the hearing - is likely to fall under the radar of Hollywood and the general population. The thing is really the music. While not a musical, which wholeheartedly stop focusing on the performers and music. Think "Black Snake Moan," but repeated cutting / editing. Those who love the blues, blues and early counting six rock-and-roll probably enjoy the movie. I intend to get the soundtrack. Ruth Brown apparently includes the end of the recording, as well as the work of Dr. John and Mable Keb 'Mo. Newcomer Gary Clark Jr., an actor and musician Texan shows good potential. Although this performance in Chicago and New Their music festivals last year (with the "Honeydripper All-Stars" to promote the film) are more dynamism and vitality to them. His performance of the song doll China, said John Saly wrote or co-wrote, is otherwise quite entertaining. |
This is the story of the right "Hey, guys, let's put on a show!" Cliché. Implausibility stacked one above another in a "feel good" / "right will triumph" pattern that is so overwhelmingly dominant in the movies. John Sayles has long been one of my favorite directors and screenwriters, and the madness of this movie: Honeydripper was like a shock. What happened? Where is the creator of "Casa de los Babys" and "Lone Star" last? What happened to the creator of the parcels as a stimulant "Limbo" and "Passion Fish"? I can only guess that one of rearing their children or a domestic or something. This Honeydripper Drama is part of more jobs in the rush of the blues Scorsese-produced films with a project Sayles. Here is my "disclosure" statement. I was a working musician and have spent most of my adult life in the company of musicians. This DVD movie Honeydripper shows some of the biggest complaints about his players have the image of non-musicians. The biggest is that non-musicians do not understand the role of testing, individual practice and the huge volume of work and effort it takes to appear "talent." This Honeydripper Drama movie is another example, and once in this extreme case. I also have a question for Keb Mo. sign Why so many projects that undervalue their efforts? I think NPR Blues history of the series of radio and now this. Do not they have more influence than that? |
They saw the film, Honeydripper, with Danny Glover Film Festival in Palm Springs and is now the music is wonderful and charming personality, a great photograph, and predict a great success in 2008. Has been a favorite of the audience and is at best Festival next Monday. Glover is exceptional, can be a bit long, but every person in the Honeydripper Drama is well characterized. As a DivX film Honeydripper critic, I have given five stars. I wonder when it will release in general, I can say to people throughout the country. The music of blues, rock n roll combined together. I recommend it highly. If this DVD movie Honeydripper came out in 2007 that I easily be ten films of the year. |
OK, let me say right off the bat I'm a little biased. This DVD film Honeydripper was shot here in Alabama, and the majority was filmed here in my home county of Butler. A secondary school for my child in class is presented in the DVD film Honeydripper as "Lonnie" and other people who served as extras or as part of the chorus. And I loved to see people and places that I know on the big screen. I think Maggie and John are "da bomb." The woman is a hugger, I love heat. John is the most down-to-earth guy. That said, I can also inform you honestly "Honeydripper" is a good Honeydripper Drama - not perfect, but well worth seeing. I think Danny Glover was sensational in the lead as Pine Top, and Charles Dutton and are entirely credible as two old friends fighting the odds to save Pine Top's blues club. Keb 'Mo' is delicious as the "Greek chorus" known as Possum, a mysterious and ingenious blind guitarist. If you like the music of blues and early rock 'n' roll, and if you enjoy a story that takes time, a complex full of memorable characters and a few lines written by Sayles - a DVD film Honeydripper made with much love and heart -- then "Honeydripper" can only be for you. |
