A newspaper photographer, Jean, researches the lurid and sensational axe murder of two women in 1873 as an editorial tie-in with a brutal modern double murder. She discovers a cache of papers that appear to give an account of the murders by an eyewitness. The plot weaves between the narrative of the eyewitness and Jean's private struggle with jealousies and suspicions as her marriage teeters.

Reasonably good, the development of two parcels well, in a fairly balanced. There is a feeling that there must be shared between them, but in the end, no such closure. The final sequence, in the storm, low budget is unrealistic. one can see the film.

Despite its convoluted plot, there is much to admire about this image, in particular, exudes sexual tension. Contemporary history is derived from the bright Polanski knife in the water, while the flashback story is ripe with an ominous atmosphere and spirit that overwhelms the rest of the image and maintains throughout the film. The set of actions are first class, a little uneven at times but overall compromised. Elizabeth Hurley is in his proper bit sexy, but no less interesting than anyone else, despite what you might expect. This is a rather sombre mood piece Bigelow, whose reputation as a great director of action movies is apparent only briefly in this thriller moderate. Well worth a look.

When I finished watching "The weight of the water" I had the impression that I had only seen two different films mixed with each other. One of them was very interesting, and that told the story of a murder in a small village populated by immigrants to America 140 years ago fishermen. The other story is dull, the characters was a mess, and it's a lot of mistakes narrative: place at present and it is a journalist who travels (along with her husband, brother and girlfriend of one) to the small villages to investigate the incident and take some pictures. We are told about their marriage problems, and some other things that do not give a damn about. Therefore, a story destroys the other. Part of the script to the other strokes, and even the actors (including Sarah Polley) did a better job in the "historic" part. Yes, Sean Penn was there, but this time his performance was pretty forgettable (which only shows some of his best-known "tricks") ... and what about the work of Liz Hurley! God, it can have an impressive body, but very wrong with the actress-femme fatal look on his face 100% of the time. Anyway, I did not expect that much of Kathryn Bigelow. Screenplay smart, intelligent performance, especially by the late Katrin Cartlidge. This is a murder case history. Who did kill the hatchet? The alleged unsupposed or a doubt? There are two plots here, the murder case and the case of those who are studying the case 130 years later. In many (emotional), the two sites are really the same. The murder case takes care of the souls of the researchers. Confused and discovered that quite a lot after leaving the theater. That is typical of a good thriller.

I liked the movie, I have my mind in motion. Thought intriguing piece. Sean Penn thought it was convincing. It was basically a jerk and as a poet is not necessarily valid, only someone who can be a difficult question, a suitor. There is a lapsed poet, never had any other talent that seduction, a common type of college. On the sea anchor - if that were not so close to the islands and rocks. They were not far enough out to sea. They were in a terrible fix. The best place to be would be far out to sea as possible or the best possible protected cove. But his boat was too close to land in bad weather and are fighting a ground blizzard. It was just a classic story harrowing sea.
