| "Against the ropes" is essentially a boxing drama. Meg Ryan plays Jackie, a woman who was interested in boxing at an early age and finally triumphs over the obstacles to become a successful director of boxing. I know virtually nothing about the sport of boxing and much less about the management of the boxers to be honest I can not find Jackie - apparently the most successful female boxing manager - which is very good. I admire the way it was hard to deal with men, but the DVD movie Against the Ropes actually had a weak script and boring scenes, particularly those in boxing. I had heard so much about playing Jackie Skye McCole Bartusiak little, but only appeared in everything! Jackie was not having as much content, and Meg Ryan was quite good, but it looked like a bimbo. I suspect that this Against the Ropes Drama has no interest for those who are not really into boxing, but they can not get involved as best film. 2 out of 10. |
| I sat through all this ... and I must say that is predictable and colossal waste of celluloid ... Mz. Miscast Ryan is terribly difficult and far from enough for this kind of role ... and lace-up leather number that has actually exacerbated the worst of his physical stature ... I wish I could say something good in this Against the Ropes Drama movie ... Meg Ryan has given us very good films in the past, but I can not seem to find any redeeming qualities ... All this needs a remake, with a different, and I think that the story of Jackie Kallen is valid for the history of boxing and should be told ... I thought that Tony Shalhoub, the actor who is the rival Jackie (Monk also played on TV) has become a better performance of the hearing before this ... | Sloppy, boxing sentimental comedy-drama based on the success of female boxing manager Jackie Kallen difficult place to the top ( "loosely inspired" seems a more appropriate term).
