Wow! A really funny and moving Grow Your Own film left in my head for days. Probably the most unsexy list of ingredients to make a DVD film Grow Your Own - in gardening, immigration, telephone poles - but all these sites with links an incredible cast of characters that it is impossible not to care. It's a bit like Little Miss Sunshine - why a road Grow Your Own Comedy about a dysfunctional family en route to a work of beauty? - Because you care about each one and the same happens here. Instead of setting immigration policy with a paddle in the writing and direction that any hint of history. A great piece of British Indie Film - I am left with the feeling you get after an impromptu meeting warm summer evening outside the publication.
I am deeply suspicious "tfitoby" is missing the point of what proved to be extremely sensitive and delicate piece of social commentary. The point is hope and vehicle color. Otherwise social physics, Richard Laxton peppers his Grow Your Own Comedy movie with symbolism of diversity and change. In the stark, colorless winter comes the promise of spring blossoms, (using the panoramic shots reflected at each end of the movie: Katherine Mansfield's long tradition in Grow Your Own film narrative tools). From discreet attire, vibrant evolving 'style' of Hawaiian shirts. The dichotomy of confinement is also explored (usually an area related to travel, trade and show promise as a physical and mental imprisonment, while the physical space appropriation represents freedom, social responsibility and cultural diversity - not to mention what the intrusive nature of the communications industry). These are not questions of humor, but I believe that true and heating Comedy helps highlight, implicitly and explicitly in this film, the multitude of social problems - and joys - that we face today. I would suggest strongly that "tfitoby 'have another look - maybe you could see it in a slot at the BBC main display, for example, on a Sunday night?
Although not exactly a DivX film Grow Your Own that will set the world on fire with its originality, "Grow Your Own" is a perfectly Drama / Comedy. (Note, it is a drama / comedy, rather than a comedy / drama. There is a difference.) The trailer would have you believe, "Grow Your Own" is a Grow Your Own Comedy with eccentric British, caught in their forms, disturbed by the influence of foreigners in the small piece of England to call the assignment. Er ... Actually that's exactly what it is (clichés ahoy!), But is sometimes very tragic human stories behind the topics that make "Grow Your Own" quite interesting. The cast is composed of the same faces who are always turning into British films. (Philip Jackson, Eddie Marsan, John Henshaw, Olivia Colman, Omid Djalili, et al.) All of them perfectly, and, probably, obviously cast. World does not break, but a very kind of Grow Your Own movie a quiet afternoon at the movies. Yes, it's another, I'm assuming, the lottery-funded British Grow Your Own movie does not interest anyone outside the British Isles, but give it a chance. You might like it.
I have seen it grow to yours and a screening test, while not nervous indie fare, it's fun. The audience laughed loudly and often, it is well prepared and generally thought that the DVD movie Grow Your Own delivers. Is that I felt like one of the best Ealing comedies, as an island community to focus on the award of producers required to accommodate the unexpected changes of outsiders, in this case traumatized refugees. The cast includes family stories as Omid Djalili and Olivia Coleman (excellent) and Benedict Wong (Sun) is a fascinating and emotionally fear asylum seeker with a horrifying story to tell. Some story lines were better than others, but when the Grow Your Own Comedy film shows how it worked brilliantly loneliness, trauma and behavior unthinking Åre balanced kind words and for the spirit of the community without resorting to sentimentality or little plot twists realistic. Really fun.
I went to a recent review of this and I found another British horror Grow Your Own film that lacked substance. The idea was good and relevant in today's multicultural society, but the finished article meaningless. And writing. Addressing the England fans at half comical context completely distorted the message. In reality there is no message, unless the Grow Your Own film makers did not want to take the view and sit on the fence on the issue of immigration. I would also say that it is more streamlined and there is a scene that spells out exactly what the main character has been through before the start of the film, the details that had been suggested before and clearly is not needed in any way. Many characters are superfluous and less developed. The opening is slow, the end is not satisfactory and the hustle and the music too dramatic for the content, giving the effect of driving the narrative to cover the bad script / direction. Having said all that there are some amusing moments and Benedict Wong gives a superb performance. But do you really go see a Grow Your Own Comedy movie called The award? Wait for the BBC to show that after the songs of praise, as it has lost countless amounts of taxpayers' money on this that will have to demonstrate that time. I see that I have seen and felt the name change. It was inevitable, but it's' Grow Your Own "better?
I recently saw this film: Grow Your Own and I thought it was charming and funny. The comedy was thin in places, laugh-out-high in others, but always in good position. I disagree with the idea that some of the characters are superfluous and developing ... I thought it was subtle, well played and a large collection of people. It is not difficult to imagine that it was somewhere in the excavation of a credit! I agree with the comment about Benedict Wong, this was a great performance, I also really liked Philip Jackson and Eddie Marsan characters. As the name, I rather like "Grow Your Own" as a title!
